Cat in the Garden / Spring

The second in the Seasonal Cats series, this wall hanging was created for a dear friend Silja, for her love of gardening and in memory of her cat, Tiffin.

The design combines raw edge applique and a "shattered glass" technique that helps make the applique "puzzle" pieces fit together easily. The black cat is reverse appliqued, layered on top in the final stages for a dramatic finishing touch. Free motion machine stitching is used to stitch the intricate floral shapes.
